His family name came from his ancestor, Juana Guevara de la Serna, who was from Madrid in the 19th century.

After the victory of the Cuban Revolution in the early 1960s, Che Guevara returned to Cuba as Minister of Industry and also worked in the Public Health Service. During his reign, he propagated fundamental social reforms and led the process of Cuba's industrialization.
Ernesto Guevara de la Serna died in October 1967 at the age of 39 due to his commitment to the revolution in Bolivia, but he left an immortal impact on the history of the revolution in Latin America.
